Privacy policy

Find Housing is a free public map of market-rate and income-restricted, program-based housing options around Portland, published by WERQ TOGETHER, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Portland, Oregon. It has no accounts, no sign-in and no forms. We built it so you can look for housing without telling anyone who you are.
The short version. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number. Find Housing runs no analytics and no advertising trackers, and it sets no cookies of its own. The site never asks for your income. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps short-lived server logs.
What we do not collect
- No name, email address, phone number or home address. There is nowhere on this site to enter them.
- No account, profile or saved searches on our side.
- No record of which buildings you look at, which filters you use, or what you search for.
- No income. The site never asks for it. The Income level filter is a choice of published income levels, not your numbers.
- No location from your device. The map never asks where you are.
What stays on your device
Your browser keeps a few small settings for this site in its own storage (called local storage). They never leave your device and we cannot see them:
- The filters you used last, so the map opens the way you left it.
- Whether you chose the light or dark look, if you picked one with the button in the header.
- The buildings you save, so your list is here next time.
The address bar also carries your current filters and, if a building is open, which one after the # sign, so you can bookmark a list. Share my list puts the ids of your saved buildings, and nothing else, in the link you share. Opening someone else's shared list does not change your own saved list. You can clear all of this at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
What our hosting provider sees
Find Housing is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records each request to serve and protect the site: your IP address, your browser type, the page address and the time. The request for the list of buildings is an ordinary request like this one and carries nothing about you. We do not use these logs to profile visitors, and we do not combine them with anything else. They are kept for a limited time under Vercel's own policies.
If something breaks on our server, an error report goes to Sentry, the error-monitoring service WERQ uses, with personal details removed.
Cookies
Find Housing does not set cookies. If you are signed in to another WERQ TOGETHER site, your browser may send that site's sign-in cookie along with requests here, because our sites share the werqt.org address, and our server may keep it fresh. Find Housing does not use it to see who you are or to record what you look at.
Other companies your browser talks to
The map's code, map images and display font are served from this site. A few things come from elsewhere:
- Google Fonts. The page's text font, Outfit, loads from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google's servers for it. That shares your IP address and browser type with Google. See Google's privacy policy.
- Building photos. Some photos are stored with Supabase, the database and storage service WERQ uses, and load from its servers when you see them. Your browser shares its IP address and browser type with Supabase to fetch them. Others are served from this site.
Some links take you to other sites, and only when you choose to follow them. Once you are there, that site's own privacy policy applies:
- Directions opens Google Maps with the building's address. See it on Street View opens Google Street View at the building's mapped spot, and shows only when we know that spot exactly. Neither sends your location.
- Book with a navigator and Peer support open Jane, the booking system WERQ uses for peer support. Anything you enter there is covered by Jane's terms and by the WERQ TOGETHER Privacy Policy.
- Building and property manager websites, One App Oregon, the Housing Connector Hub, Home Forward, the VA, OpenStreetMap, and other WERQ TOGETHER sites. We do not control them or how they handle your information.
Children
Find Housing is meant for adults looking for housing and the people who help them. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
WERQ TOGETHER's other sites
This policy covers findhousing.werqt.org only. Our newsletter, donations, peer support and other programs are covered by the WERQ TOGETHER Privacy Policy. Where the two differ, this one applies on Find Housing.
Changes
If we change what this site collects or loads, we will update this page and the date at the top before or when the change goes live.
